Charles Penthouse 1

This property always had something going for it. Fantastic views, fantastic windows, and a superb location overlooking the Boston Common. We took it from outdated bachelor pad to a home for a young, expanding family, working to really lighten it up.

Hailing from California, the chic and blushing new bride gravitates to bright and clean, open and sunny spaces. The dark woods, deep reds, and brown tones mixed with the flat dark green in the pool and poker tables of a true man cave certainly had to go… somewhere else. We brought in a cool palette of greys, whites, and pale blues that still had a feeling of astringent masculinity, while offering a softness to the space, reflecting instead of absorbing the natural light.

Midway through this transformative process, the couple announced they were having a baby! So, we expanded our scope to include a nursery, keeping the palette consistent, while adding a touch of warmth and playfulness in a pop of orange. To me, the design is about being flexible and fluid; always ready for growth.
