Follen Residence

Shifting gears from an urban loft in downtown Boston, this young family was ready for more space, and a cozy, suburban ambiance. They found a lovely place on a leafy lane with more room and a backyard for their growing family.

We started by completely rethinking the entry and living room, totally changing the introduction to the home. We redesigned the powder room and office, as well as the family room and the sitting area using a bolder take on a palette of neutrals. With black and greys, white and greige mixed in with peacock and other shades of blue along with punches of yellow, we livened up the earthy greenery surrounding it and peeking through the windows.

Using the amazing black and white art the client had, we were able to incorporate the palette into the wall fixtures. We brought in cozy elements like comfortable upholstery and added fun metallic finishes like mirror and polished nickel, textures like shagreen, and warmth in walnut woods. The completed home is the truest example of a transitional space that will grow with this family.
