Waban Cozy Colonial

Before settling in Boston, these clients were well-traveled and hailing most recently from Europe. A busy little family of three led by the mom’s discerning eye for design promised an inspiring energy and intimacy throughout the process.

This cozy home in the suburbs was completed in two parts. We were initially brought on for the most frequented rooms, the family and dining room, and were called back in for a second round to complete the upstairs office, guest bedroom, kids’ bedroom and bath, and master bath for a consistent, Lovejoy Interiors stream of consciousness. Though the project started on a smaller scale, as it grew, we saw the contingency to make the design work for a developing family.

Honoring the clients’ love of textiles, we gave the guest bedroom a fun edge with printed wallcoverings to make a memorable sanctuary for the many family guests to stay. We devised a very serene feel in the warm, tonal palette to evoke a peaceful, homey embrace in the office. Most importantly, we designed the boys room to be very transitional. We devised it so that aspects could be easily interchanged, while the room remained consistently functional, from childhood to teen years.
